[Week 22] Soaked To The Bone

Hello family!

Everyone be rest assured Im safe. Thank you for your many words of caution. We wont be doing anything stupid any time soon. Haha dad I enjoyed the whirlpool analogy, just a classic sunday school lesson. But thank you all for the emails I love reading them all. Also thank Bro and sis Christienson for their package! that was incredibly nice and im very grateful for them. I cant find his email or else Id thank them myself.

This week was interesting. We started out by having zone conference in Lyon on tuesday. I got to see E. Hilburn from the mtc so that was sweet. This transfers topic was all about prayer. I would love to share some of the scriptures but Im in Grenoble right now so I dont have my notes! But a lot of it was just about the power of praying in groups and the God answers the prays of those who follow the commandments. In 1 Pierre 3:12 it talks about how the Lord hears the prayers of the righteous more than those of the wicked. Conference is always super edifying and fun to see president and all the other missionaries. Next conference, or the one after, Elder Anderson of the quorum of the 12 will be coming and speaking to our mission. Im super pumped to meet him and hear his words.

The week started out warm and hot but took a change to fall pretty quick. The other day we had just finished teaching a lesson with a member and we walked out of the appartment to be greeted by a monsoon. We only had shirt sleeve shirts on but luckily I had an umbrella in my bag. E Garland nor the member had one though. I took off my tie and watch and all my pass along cards and threw them in my back pack and then gave the umbrella to the member so he wouldnt get wet. Then ran across town to our next RDV. It was freezing rain and went haha. By the time we arrived at our amis house we were soaked to the bone. Just drenched haha it was pretty fun. This week we picked up 5 new amis and are starting to teach them. Hopefully we can get some of them to start progressing towards baptism. We had 2 amis at church yesterday and both participated and enjoyed it. Looking back I had a pretty classic movie moment at church, but at the time it was terrible. I was talking with Daniel one of our amis en progress and he was saying how everyone is a lot nicer here and how most of the world is mean etc. and it was going great! Then all of the sudden one of the members comes crashing through the sacrament room doors and starts screaming at the top of his lungs at another member, saying all manner of grave cuss words. I looked back at our ami and his face had gone white. I quickly tried to hurry him into the chapel. Haha im pretty sure if anyone can witness something like that at church and continue to progress theyre super elect! Luckily it seems like it didnt change any with our ami haha.

Well I love you all! Thanks again for your emails I love reading whats going on back home. I am grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful family. Im excited to be able to hang out with you guys again someday. There arent enough nice words I can say to you all.

Forever Love
Elder Gruber
