[Week 21] Irsael, Israel God Is Calling

Another week in the books. A lot happened this week! It sounds like a lot happened back home too. You guys are lucky you got to watch the Brigham City Temple dedication. I was hoping to be able to go to the open house for that for a while now! I cant believe chan is almost done with sunrise. When I get back he's going to look so much different.

I started the week doing an exchange with E. Han. He's this nice, cute, litte guy from Cambodia. I learned so much on our exchange. He's one of the most Christ-like people I've ever met! We had district meeting the next day in Grenoble. Man that ville is gorgeous! Its tucked away in the Alps, and super green. It felt like I was back home again having all the mountains around!

We have one ami named Daniel who is really progressing towards baptism. The only stumbling block is the Word of Wisdom. Once we can over come that he should be getting baptized by the end of next month. We also started teaching another Rugbyman from South Africa. He's one of those people that you would think was a Bishop if you didnt know better. He is super cool and nice. We also started teaching a family who is super engaged into the gospel and was taking notes in our first rendez vous. haha they were super excited. I love it because our Church just makes sense. The more you study the scriptures etc the more you come to realize its truthfulness (is verity a word in english?), and to those who actually know the Bible and realize there was a falling away aka apostasie, the message of the rétablissement gets them super pumped. We taught a bunch of other lessons this week and the work is really starting to pick up here. We realistically could be getting five to six baptisms by the end of the transfer if all our amis do what they need to. The worst part of missionary work is free agency... haha I hate it some times! Kidding of course. Kind of.

We had a pretty cool oppurtunity to attend a professional rubgy match this week. One of our members plays on the Romans équipe (twentish mins outside of Valence) and we got the permission from president to go out with his wife and kids. Our goal was to get a rendez fixed with one of the other players wives, but unfortunately they arent ready for the Gospel yet. Though theyre super nice and invited us over for when they roast a pig... so hopefully we'll get to teach them soon haha. Anyways the match was a blast. Everyone was freaking out because we were there it was pretty funny. Unfortunately Romans lost but we got a lot of work done and it was a sweet experience.

Not a lot of news makes it to us but apparently there are lots of troubles in the world right now ever since that film got released? Anyways southern france is better known as Iraq so with all the tension in the world right now we have a curfew of night fall unless we are teaching a lesson. Which isnt really necessary because we're really well protected by the Lord. But we're obedient to his commandments as well! Also missionary appartments are always 'poorly situated'. Our appartment is on the most muslim street inside the centre ville. There are much worst neighborhoods outside of town though. So anyways we had a pretty interesting experience the other night. There are fights like everynight literally right below our window, and theyre always hilarious and classic. The guys look like 10 old girls and we always watch. Except this week im pretty sure we witnessed the death of a man. These 2 guys were fighting and then all the sudden one pulls out this fat knife. The other one panics and rips off his necklace and tries to turn it into a whip. The guy with the knife was in pretty good position to end the fight but for some reason he decided to chuck it at the other one, missing terrible and sending it across the street. One thing lead to another and one of them ended up with a sliced up neck and had to get carried away. We havent seen the poor little guy since...

Tomorrow we head out to Lyon for Zone Conference. Im siked I love seeing all the other missionaries and President/his family. Also Its always fun being in Lyon. Its got such a good feeling about it since there are so many missionaries and things with the church going on there. Mom you asked what I wanted for Xmas since it takes so long for stuff to get here. I have one request, echoing the words of our beloved prophet. Find somebody who is having a hard time, and do something nice for them. That would be the best Xmas day gift I could ask for. I love you guys so much! I am happy you all are doing so great. Stay classy til next time!!

Forever Love
Elder Gruber
