Sorry that I didnt write an email last week, Ill make up for it here. So I just barely saw this imfamous photo of us at general conference in the Liahona. I had heard so much about it without actually seeing it haha so Im glad I can check that box now.
So since we last talked we've been just about everywhere from Corsica to Switzerland on exchanges. Our mission is a truly beautiful part of the world. I've learned a lot and Im having a great time. This is the start of week 6 which means E. Fox is going home in a week. Ill be taking the reins and teaching a new guy the ropes.
As far as a story from my mission, I would like talk about a senior missionary couple named the Clarks. These two are incredible. They've been my second parents since they arrived here in Lyon. Elder and Sister Clark are the definition of diligence and humility. They arrive to the Office early, and they leave late. For lunch they eat a half sandwhich as they stay in their desk and continue to work. I've never seen or met anyone like them. The reason for which I decided to speak of them today though, is because of an impactful lesson of humility I learned this past week. Elder Clark was a very successful business man and was Vice President at Nissan. He has also filled many church leadership positions. Coming here into the mission, who could of been prideful and aspired to be a Mission President rather than an office position, but all he does is work hard and do whatever President Roney asks him to do. His reply is that, 'President Roney is my preisthood leader. I came out here to serve the Lord, not serve myself.' I really love the Clarks and hope we can all become more like them. That's to say, forget our pride and diligently serve in whatever we are given to perform in.
I love you all and pray that your week goes well. bisous!
Elder Gruber
