[Week 47] A Marvelous Work and a Wonder

A Marvelous Work and a Wonder

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.. what a great institution! I am so greatful to be a member of this church. I love it because it's true. Im greatful for Joseph Smith and for the marvelous work and wonder that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished through him. Going through out my mission ive learned a lot the importance of humility and the 'pierre d'achoppement' of pride. I can sit someone down, and using the bible literally prove that our church is the true church on the earth. Its not complicated or hard. That serves what though? If we're not humble we'll take the truth to be hard. God wants us to come back to him. He loves us. Therefore he's made the pathway, and its an easy path to find. If we're not humble though, we will never progress. The Book of Mormon is a great example of the power of pride. Pride is the root of all evil and the universal sin. I'll say that any sin committed, started with pride. What makes a good man is his humility. The greatest leader of all time was the most humble man of all time. If we want to look at a stand point of the world, Jesus Christ was born in a barn with animals (no power in the worlds eyes in any fashion), but by the time he was killed, he had completely changed the world and became the most 'powerful' (still talking in terms of the world) person on earth. It helps to be the literal son of God in the flesh too haha. Another great example is Ammoron and Moroni. One being the most charismatique leader, and the other being one of the greatest caniving evil managers of all time. I wont go into detail but that comparison makes for a great study!

I am so thankful for this church.

This week was pretty good. We had our one and only district meeting of the transfer. We've got some quality chaps in these lands! This week we have transfer calls so we will be finding out the fate for the next 6 weeks. I think ill probably be staying another transfer him, but we never know.

I got the shoes you all send me nice and broken in so theyre a big relief. My other twos paires have mulitiple holes in the soles and varies other spots. I want to throw them out to free up some luggage room, but it makes for a good souvenir haha. Thank you also for the suit. Im wearing it today.

As far as the work goes, we met and started teaching this guy... the poor man smokes like a chimnie. We saw him twice and the second time suceeded in teaching his wife at the same time. They are on the edge of divorce and basically cant stand each other. But at the end of the rdv they were acting like kids and flirting.. it was kind of weird but really cool haha. At the end of the lecon we all knelt together in prayer and the spirit was so strong. They were smiling and happy together. It is a testimony to how the Gospel is really created for the family. The change that the spirit and prayer brings to a family is incredible. I hope we can help this family stay together.

Forever Love,
Elder Gruber
