I hope everyone has had a fantastic week of miracles!
Things are really slow here in Gap, not going to lie. It has kind of always been really slow here. We are working really hard to change that though. We found 2 new amis this week but even when we have ami's, its not easy to teach them here. One of the new amis is this really great lady named Isabelle. The problem is that as missionaries we cant teach women alone, we need at least one other man with us. There are only 2 members that live in Gap and they are either working or cant walk so it poses lots of problems there. Luckily, the Elders of Aix came up to do an exchange with us so we got to teach her. We had a really great 1st lesson and hope to be able to continue to teach her. Our other new ami is this kind of sketchy guy from Afganistan, but he's actually not muslim. He doesnt speak any french so I basically had a 1 on 1 lesson with him while Elder Poncharville tried to follow along. He's nice but he might be more interested in just practicing english than the Gospel.
This transfer has been a great blessing serving with a native french speaker. It exposed to me how terrible my french was haha. in day to day things I was terrible (tab water, drying rack, random things like that). Now thats starting to improve a little bit. Id say that Im frustrated my french isnt improving as fast as I would like it to, given the situation, but my vocabulary has gotten much better.
Well last week we went on a 3 hour voyage to get to Aix-en-Provence to have a zone training. It was a blast to see all those other Elders, and to be in warm(er) sunny weather. It was funny because at the end of the last transfer I was saying if I had to leave the sacred land of Brive, I hope its to the Aix-en-Provence zone, because all the villes except for gap are in the 'provence' aka super awesome weather. Well Heavenly Father pulled a quick one on me and sent me there but exiled me into the snowy mountains haha. Then the best day of the transfer is this week. Zone conference! Im super stoked. Also we are having interviews this conference so Ill get to spend some quality time with our super inspired mission president. I love that man.
I realized I probably dont type the best letters, so Ill try to improve in that category, but sometimes I just have nothing to say haha. One thing I can always say in these letters though is that I love you guys! I hope you all can take a little time every night and realize how much you have. God loves you. Jesus Christ loves you. He accomplished the Atonement. We can all be forgive of our sins. We have family and friends. We have temples. We live in America!!! We should count ourselves very blessed. Have a great week everyone and keep a smile on your face.
Forever Love
Elder Gruber
