[Week 28] Elder Anderson, Bergerac, and Chestnuts

Bonnnnjour family!! Thanks for all the e-mails this week! Its so great reading about whats going on back home! Thank you Dad and Kenz for the pictures I loved them! Well from what it sounds like, we had quiet the little storm out west eh. Drive carefully and make sure you have some fun in the snow.

This week was a crazy one. Thursday I headed down to Bergerac and did a 2 day exchange with our district leader. It was a blast to see jean-charles and some other members. It felt like years ago that I was walking those streets, but apparently its only been a little over 2 months. It was super weird being there with out my beloved father E. Wilcox. We went and taught jean-charles. I felt like Alma when he saw the sons of Mosiah and rejoiced that his brethern were still strong in the faith. It was funny this time because I could actually understand everything he was saying and we could have a lot better of a conversation. Last week we ate chestnuts a lot because its that time of the year. In France everyone eats things that are in season, its pretty cool. So on friday morning we went chestnut collecting with some members.. haha it was classic. Everyone keeps giving us them its funny.

Sunday we drove down to stake conference and heard The Apostle of the Lord Jesus Chirst, Elder Anderson, address the stake of Bordeaux. As I arrived I was talking to some other missionaries, I look behind me and then man is walking in and shakes my hand with a nice smile. Turns out it was Elder Anderson haha I was tongue tied and didnt say anything but it was a great experience. Its okay though, I got to shake his hand again later at Zone conference. So Elder Kearon (who gave the talk about the scorpion in priesthood meeting a couple years ago) was there too. He and Elder Anderson both gave really good talks and spoke about looking to the future, and the ressurection. They talked about 'spiritual peaks'. And how everyone talks about their peak as their mission or when they were Relief society pres, etc. They were saying we need to be looking forward and having a continual new peak.

Afterwards we headed to the Bordeaux Chapel and waited like 3 hours for the Apostle. Its tight, after the meeting he sought out all the sick children and blessed them individual like the Savior did. When he finally arrived we took a big group pic with them, and one by one got to shake his hand. When it came my turn, the only words I could muster out were, 'I love you. Thank you.' then I was herded into the chapel haha. The entire meeting was focused on the doctrine of Christ. President Roney only spoke for several mins but its always inspired. As usual he kissed his wife in front of all of us and made a snide comment about her. hahaha he's super prideful about his wife its hilarious. The best is when he speaks in french he always says really funny things and she has no idea whats going on. Classic funny guy he is. Elder Kearon gave a powerful discours. When he speaks you can feel the authority that he has, its incredible. We then were honored to hear the words of Elder Anderson. It was pretty sweet being taught in an intimate setting like that from an Apostle. He was really powerful as well. It was impressive because he just looked like any old guy. Its crazy to think about the things that he has seen. He speaks pretty good french still I was really impressed. I wish I could talk about everything he did but it was too sacred to share with you all.. just kidding haha I dont have my notes but he talked lots about 'following Jesus Christ'. We really invite people to follow Jesus Chirst, not a church. The spirit was super duper strong and I invite all of you to read his last conference talk about the refiners fire.

I love you all. Thanks for all you do. You are all in my prayers. Keep it up in Zion!

Forever Love,
Elder Gruber

ps at the Bordeaux conference center there was a boys/girls restroom. It blew my mind so I had to take a picture. Enjoy.
