[Week 15]

Hope everyone enjoyed the Olympics, how were they?

So last time I wrote I was en route to Lyon. After I was done emailing we waiting for the rest of the équipes to show up at 1015 at the gare. Once everyone had arrived we went to our appartements and went to bed at around 12. Tuesday morning we got up and 5 and recommenced our voyage. The train ride was only about 2 or so hours I believe. Usually I would have been exhausted but I was just too giddy to be in Lyon and see all my old friends from the MTC. It was awesome seeing all the Elders from my generation again. Exchanging stories and good times. Président and the Assistants taught us a bunch of suuuper inspired stuff for awhile. But after lunch they realized they had taught everything already haha. So we had like 3ish hours before our train left. Which meant we got to work there for awhile :)

All the missionaries departed at once and marched down the streets of Lyon like an army. We rode the subway to this really awesome place (plaza? Not sure what its called in english) where we had dinner the first night in the field. Some Elders brought hymns books and a bunch were going to sing hymns as people passed by while others contacted around there. E. Hilburn and I wanted to street board together super bad so we went with 3 other bleu's, (which reminds me you asked what a bleu was. Its the French version of a greeny), and set up in this sweet area with millions of people walking past us each second. Street boarding is this awwwesome finding technique where you set up a big board and contact people that walk by. Its not important whats on the board, as long as it gets peoples attention. And I love using random things. This time we just had a huge smiley face on it. So 5 brand new Elders went to work. Its always amazing what the Lord will do for you when you try your best. Im not exactly fluent yet, and I didnt have my trainer to lean on, but the Lord blessed me temencely (sp?). We street boarded for 2 hours but it flew by like 20 mins! The best part of that ville is there are sooo many people. So if you get shut down you just turn around and contact a new person, and so on. I was solo contacting people and families and placing tons of Books of Mormon. Sometimes I wouldnt know a random word but other than that there were no soucis with the language. Times like that you just want to stay out and contact all day.

We eventually returned to the gare, and rode our train to Toulouse where we arrived at around 11. We took the subway to the Zone Leaders appartement and stayed the night. I was astonished in the morning to find tons of weights, a pull up bar, and a bench press. I guess since the appartement was where the old Toulouse mission assistants lived, they had an awesome set up. We then headed to Bordeaux, then back to Bergerac. Back into the work here. And I was back with my trainer, which meant all those super french powers were temporarly taken away again, dangit. haha

This week was definitely a little longer. We're really struggling to find new ami's. We only ended up teaching 1 lesson last week. Its definitely not from a lack of effort though. We talk to every person we see haha. We're just waiting to find that one elect person who is ready for the gospel. E. Wilcox has 4 weeks left in his mission, so yes at the end of the transfer he will be going home. I will most likely stay here for 1 more transfer, but theres a chance president white washes the area and sends me to a different ville. Before that though Elder Teixera of the 70 will be visiting our mission and speaking to us at zone conference in a couple weeks. That will be awesome.

Haha dad- So usually they just play random American pop sounds on the radio here, but we were in a less active members house on and he had the radio on in the other room and all the sudden I hear Lady Antebellum, "Just A Kiss" start playing. I could almost hear you saying, "Man, its incredible how one single song can relate and touch so many different people" hahaha. Good times. He cooked us up a rabbit, unfortunately we didnt get to shoot it... But it was a fun night!

Well I Love you all!! Is there anything I can do to help our serve any of you? I got your package Kelly!! Thank you very much! I love you! The church is true. thanks for all the support everyone.

Until next time,
Stay classy USA.

Forever Love,
Elder Gruber
