[Week 57] Another Week in The Books

Hello everyone!
I enjoyed this week. It went pretty well. Last week we took in some Elders from the Bordeaux zone here for a new missionary meeting. It was fun to see some old friends. On wednesday we had zone leader council. President Roney had a really cool and inspiring presentation. We started in 3 Ne 11 and he taught us the Gospel out of the scriptures and and hour later he had finished. It was incredible. Its pretty interesting to see how you can read something many times and completely miss a very important phrase or verse. Normally President and the assistants tell us what we're going to be presenting at zone conference, but this zone conference we'll be receiving Elder Richards of the seventy, so he wont be dont anything except eating up what he tells us haha. I'm excited. Also I'm not sure on the details but we are apparently having another leadership council in Bordeaux with Elder Richards. So we'll be getting flown out to the meeting. In any case im anxious for the training.
Friday we had our zone training meeting. We have the elders of Corsica in our zone, but obviously we never see them except for zone conference. The assistants do exchanges with them and not us, so for our zone training meeting we had them on skype projected on the wall. It felt like a board meeting because we were sitting along a big rectangular desk with the skype going. haha it was really fun. It also went very well.
Our miracle is an ami we found last week named Elizabeth. She took the missionary lessons a couple years ago but ended up dropping the Elders. We've been teaching her these past 2 weeks and shes really progressing towards baptism. Im very confident that she'll make her date. The only obstacle is her husband who is very against religion. Her kids are great though, hopefully we will be able to baptise them as well. She really wants them baptised but theyre kinda lazy and wont get up for church yet haha. But hopefully theyll have a change of heart soon.
I wish you all a good week. Remember that happiness comes from repentance and obedience to the commandments of God. We can never be truly happy without these two things. This is the only way to true and lasting happiness. I'm so grateful for my mission and all the blessings and lessons ive learned from it. I love this Gospel and the light that it brings into our lives. It really is hard seeing people so sad in the world. They try to find happiness in the bottle or in other ways, but that just makes things worse. I pray that more people can come to the knowledge that we are children of a loving God. Our potential is great- eternal happiness and lots of fun. Pray works. Repentance works. That reminds me of my favorite scriptural story. Jean chapter 8. A women is caught in adultery and thrown at the feet of the Savior. The accusers are searching to have the Savior trip over his words and ask him what to do. But unfortunately for them hes pretty whitty and after one quick line gets everyone to leave. He then speaks to the women and after a quick exchange of words he tells her, 'go, and sin no more'. This is the invitation the Savior gives to each and everyone of us. We can repent and change who we are forever and decided to follow the Savior and be happy. I love you all and invite you all to read Jean 8 3-11. This church is true. This church is simple.
Forever Love,
Elder Gruber
