1. We have bikes, but we only take them if we have to travel really far in not a lot of time.
2. The food is good, but I prefer the food back home.
3. Yes I'm eating well..
4. Week 2 was much better!
5. Me and E.Wilcox get along great. He's an awesome trainer.
6. Church is great here. Its one of my favorite times of the week. Yes I'm understanding more of the language every day, its a process!
7. I guess as far as media goes the hardest has been music... I definitely miss country! The other stuff I havent even thought again.
8. kelly- the dialect is different in the south, and also different in my region. But it takes awhile to adjust since theyre speaking slang most the time anyways.
So week 2 was much better than the last. I'm starting to settle in here in Bergerac. There's not a whole lot to it... so I've pretty much seen it all by now haha. But its a nice little town. The small villes are the hardest apparently. I'm told people in the bigger villes are much more open minded to religion and new ideas. so its only gonna get better here on out!
Well its tough finding new Ami's out here but we do what we can. One big thing is through doing service. This week we had txo pretty big service oppurtunities. We helped a lady tear down all her furniture and move it. Afterwards we set up a rendez vous so maybe we'll be getting a new ami. lets pray for her. Then we helped a family pretty much deforrest their back yard. We went in with our chain saws and cleared out the whole area. haha it was really fun, and it felt good to get my hands dirty again.
They insisted on feeding us so they took us in for lunch and I had my first french meal. They spend all day eating over here its funny. So we had a salad, main dish, bread and cheese, then desert. It was super new to me, and the family noticed. after we finished our main dish I still had a decent amount of bread left.... And I didnt know what to do with it. I didnt know they ate the bread and cheese AFTER the main dish. I assumed they just werent gonna serve any. The only thing next to the pain was a thing of dijon mustard. So for some reason I decided to put the mustard on the bread. The whole time the family was baffled as they watched me. Come to find out the mustard here is much stronger too. lucky the couple left the room while I bit into what seemed like wasabi. haha It cleared out my sinuses and made me all teary eyed. it was pretty funny.
Well E. Wilcox and I are working hard out here trying to see miracles. I dont have any time so I gotta run. Mom I promise I'll do better next week.... But I know the church is true, being out here has stregthened my testimony so much. Not a whole lot of other news to report on anyways. It's frustrating not being able to say everything I want, but its a really good experience. Its super duper humbling and its helping me a ton with patience. I love you all! And I know God loves you too! Never forget that, no matter what we do He will always love us. Have a great week everyone and have a happy 4th. Wish I could see the fireworks and rodeos! God Bless America!
Forever Love,
Elder Gruber
