I sat for awhile thinking of a title for this week. Nothing could
come to mind. So I decided to quote one of the funniest scriptures I've
ever read. No one knows excatly what it means, but its classic
nonetheless.
So last week was much similar to the previous 6 weeks. Lots of
French and lots of the Gospel, except this week we received 50 new,
young, eager missionaries. Beforehand we had a humble 28 missionaries in
our zone, now add 50 to that. We got to host wednesday (where you pick
the Elders up and escort them to their resident/class, etc) and I
happened to pick up 3 Elders all headed to our zone. It was sad watching
these kids say goodbye to their families for the next two years. But it
was fun to be the first one to put an arm around them and tell them
that everythings okay because they're doing the Lords work now and
they're gonna love it.
The first 3 days, and still even now, they wonder around aimlessly
like zombies. With clinched jaws they keep to themselves. Which is weird
because when we first came in we all loved talking to the older French
Elders about the mtc and what not. Haha they're so lost. Many of these
n00bs have studied french for a large portion of their lives though, and
are pretty adequate with the language.
By way of our Ami's, érik is progressing well and hopefully will be
ready for baptism next saturday. Jean paul was baptized this
week. Frere Wilcox is going to play a new Ami named Atchu. Which reminds
me, I'm not sure if I've talked much about my teachers, but let me just
say that they're the best. Frere Lepretre is a glorious french model,
and Frere Wilcox is just a lovable, sweet guy. He reminds me of Ted
Mosby off of HIMYM. They're total opposites and the combination works
perfectly. Frere Wilcox builds us up in the morning and we feel like we
can take on the world, then Frere Lepretre comes in and knocks us off
our feet in the evening haha. Aww great guys.
Yesterday we did PVL (speak your language) from wake up to lights
out. That means not a word of english was spoken. It was good practice,
but by the end of the day we were all wishing we could speak in
English. We were all exhausted mentally by days end. No one knows how
we're alledgedly gonna learn this blasted language haha. On a side note
my spelling has gotten terrible in English as you can see.
Our favorite past time here in the MTC now has got to be butt
sliding down rails. There isnt a rail that our district passes up
without riding. (as you can see not a whole lot new happens within these
walls, hence why Im telling you this.) There are some pretty long steep
rails in the nethermost regions of the campus if you can find them.
Dad you requested a schedule of my dad so here is a sample:

We schedule to be doing something every second of the day. Well as for
me, I'm doing great. I love my comp E. Call he's such a great guy, and
we teach so well together. The language is coming. I feel like I've
matured and grown up a whole lot in the past 7 weeks. But hey, dont take
my word for it. If you could see me now you'd be duly impressed by my
new facial hair growing ability. Im finally starting to look like you
pops! :) haha well We're all just about ready to ship out to the field
now. All is well. My advice to everyone who may read this: read the Book
of Mormon! I love that book so much. It's so special. well until next
time..
Forever Love,
Elder Gruber
p.s. I forgot to
memtion last week I got my first ever bloody nose. And it came out of
literally nowhere while I was sitting in my residence writing in my
journal.
