First off, I want to challenge any of my Family or friends who might
see this, (probably just my mom and bat) to watch or read President
Monson's talk, "Finding Joy in the Journey." I'm sure many have seen it
but if not, go watch it, whether you're LDS or not the message applies
to all of us. It really makes you realize what's important in life and
what isn't. I love listening to the Prophet talk. But I wanted to thank
all my family and friends for all they have done for me. After listening
to Monson speak I realized how blessed and grateful I am for what I
have. We take so much for granted. To quote one of my favorite athletes
Matt Kroc, who has battled through many épreuves, "If a speeding ticket
is the only bad thing that happens to me today, then thats a pretty good
day." replace ticket with whatever else you thing is making your life
hard.
Anyways this week was just like the others haha. Mother, the camera
we bought is gosh awful. I definitely need a new one that is of this
century. Also can you guys send me my jeans? Apparently you need pants
on your mission, who knew. Donc, jeans and a new camera would be much
appreciated. I'll send the old one so we can return it.
Sister Prater came in last week! It was fun to see a fellow
crescent ridge 1st wardite in the MTC. Also I believe its teresa praters
b-day tomorrow? Happy birthday to her I love that family!
Im
never quiet sure what to write about, and what not to. Because I'm
pretty sure some of the things that I think are hilarious in here, are
probably not funny to a normal human. But this is a pretty classic
French fail. Before I start, I want to make it clear I got the approval
of mon college before sharing the story. So we were teaching on of our
ami's "erik". He's super tough haha. Anyways he was asking me if I was
married and if I had "pleusir" wives (several wives) and I laughed and
told him no, but that one day I hope to have one wife. Then he turned to
Elder Call. Bless his heart he's really trying hard to learn the
language. And asked him if he had pleusir wives and mothers. He thought
he asked him something different. So his response was, "oui, I hope to
one day!" It was pretty funny haha. Ive had some French Fails myself but
since Im the one who gets to report I choose to omit such instances.
One of my favorite quotes you would tell me dad is "Never too high,
never too low". Its very applicable to the MTC. I heard someone say,
"never look more than a day ahead, but look weeks behind". This is
referring to the language by the way. Its uber stressful and
overwhelming thinking about being in france in little over a month so
thats no good. But looking 2 weeks back and seeing how far we've come is
super encouraging. Anyways you've just gotta take it day by day here.
One day I'll be super discouraged about the language, then the next ill
feel like a champ. Its definitely a humbling experience trying to learn a
new language. But the progess we've made is incredible. Without the
Saint-Esprit and the Gift of tongues I would definitely not know 1/8 of
what I've learned in here. Without Heavenly Fathers help I am nothing,
but Ive known that for awhile now haha. Its so awesome what
you can do with the Lord on your side.
Well they put into effect the new no-dunking rule. Which sucks
because how else do you relive the glory days? haha. Basketball in here
is super fun because I have 2 D-1 players in my zone so we have some
pretty epic games. Also I wanna give a shout out to my good friend Elder
Jake Davies, he's got his name on the wall of the gym for most
consecutive 3-pointers made. haha.
These letters home are so scattered so sorry for that but its
rushed and ive never been accused of having good essay structure or
grammar in the first place. We met this Elder from Bordeaux area. (which
is in our mission). It was cool getting to talk with him. He told us
some "hip" words to use and what not.
I know this church is true. I'm eternally grateful for the
oppurtunity I have to serve because Heavenly Father has blessed me so
much. This church has saved my life! Thanks for the love Family!
