[Week 13] True Grit

Hello! First I'll start by responding to your question dad, "Parlez-vous français?" Well the short answer to that is no haha. But its a work in progress. I can pretty much understand what everyone is saying now, but not every word. I really progessed this week in the language and I pretty satisfied with my acheivements this transfer. I have a lot higher goals next transfer though.

Oh that reminds me of all the questions you've been asking about transfers and what not haha sorry Im just getting to that now! So theyre each 6 weeks. You usually stay in a ville for 2-4 transfers depending on the mission needs. The last sunday night of each transfer you get a call informing you if youre leaving or going etc. I likely will be in Bergerac for the next 2 transfers. One with E.Wilcox and then 1 with a new collège.
This week was pretty successful. We met with Jean Charles 5 times which is crazy! All the rendez-vous were really great too. We had one lesson on the Prophet and showed him one of President Monsons discours from a couple conferences back. At the end of the video President bore a super powerful testimony of the savior and the spirit filled the room! and we followed him with our testimonies of the Prophet and of Christ. We gave him a Liahona all about the Book of Mormon and engaged him to read it. By the next day he had read every word in it haha. He finished Le Livre De Mormon last night. So Im super excited for our rendez-vous tomorrow. We're going to re-engage him to baptism then. This guy is awesome. . He finished Le Livre De Mormon in 2 weeks, and absolutely loves it. He always finds these super random little historical facts that go along with the book and gets so excited about it haha. A quick story- after one of our lesson at the chapel, we were walking back and this anti confronted us and started going off saying n'importe quoi and then Jean Charles, who knows every event and even every meaningless happening in history, spoke up. The guy was saying abunch of stupid stuff about how all these random historical things prove Le Livre De Mormon false. Jean Charles was like uhhhh actually they spoken this language and this happened in this year and blah blah blah and confounded the anti it was so classic. After Jean Charles gets baptized he is going to be the best member to teach with just cause he is soo smart haha.

Other than Jean we are pretty short on Ami's. Hopefully we'll find somebody new soon to teach. We havent gotten a new ami in the 5 weeks ive been here. Thats going to change soon though, this week we're going to find 3 new people to teach! I get E. Broadhead's forward, and am amazed at the difference of the world over there and the world here. Every p-day lunch I'll read an exerpt from it out load to E.Wilcox and we both just laugh and shake our heads. For instance, the mission goal is to have every companionship baptize every week. Then we read a story about his comp walking up to a random girl and asking her to baptism, then baptizing her that very night. I'm super glad to be where I am. I cant imagine having a mission like that. As cool as it would be to baptize every week, Id much rather bust my tail off every day to just find one person. And to know all my ami's personally and watch their lives change forever.

I dont have too much time so I gotta run! I love you all!
The Church is true!

Forever Love,

Elder Benjamin Chase Gruber
